Originally unneccessarily violent, as true blood was sexual, it has progressed to somewhat more dramatic moments of intense romance, suspense and action. There's always something just around the corner, lots of unexpected surprises even for those who have read the books as the tv series has stayed true to the books as possible but also added their own twists here and there. "
