Harry's the hero of the series for a reason. Though he tends to angst a bit and has difficulty accepting that his friends are with him to the end, he is an incredibly kind, brave, (sometimes awkward), loyal and stupidly heroic boy who ends up laying down his life for the rest of the world: taking the walk to his doom and standing there as his nemesis raises his wand.
This walk to death was, I think, what made it for Harry. Such an incredible thing to do, knowing that if you go you are going to die - but knowing that if you walk away you lay that burden on everyone else. Harry chose to sacrifice himself.
Handy that he ended up surviving, isn't it? :D"
