Some viewers, drawn in by the promise of Who with sex, may be disappointed by the relatively small stakes in play here compared with the epic scale sometimes seen on the parent program. It's certainly necessary to approach Torchwood, not as another Who or even a 24, but rather as a small show about the Wales branch office of an alien-hunting task force. Once you've done that, you're good to go."
