April Cathleen Cornelius:Probably the greatest movie ever, Jaws is based on the novel by Peter Benchley (who based it on the 1916 shark attacks at the Jersey Shore) A young woman swimming alone at night (never a good idea) is dragged under while her boyfriend is passed out on the beach. The next day her remains are found on the beach. Its very obviously a shark attack but when Chief Brody puts that on the report and wants to close the beach he's met with resistance by the mayor and the townspeople whose income depends on tourists. Another fatal attack on a young boy prompts the town to close the beach and bring in Matt Hooper from the Oceanographic institute. Also they hire local fisherman Quint to kill the shark ("I value my neck a lot more than 3000 bucks chief I'll find him for three but I'll catch him and kill him for ten") The second half of the movie finds Hooper ("This was not a boating accident") Brody and Quint out at sea to hunt the shark who has attacked again and nearly killed Brody's son. As the shark passes under the boat, you can see that its much bigger ("Youre gonna need a bigger boat") While on board Quint tells of the sinking of the USS Indianapolis and the worst shark attack in history ("1100 men went into the water 316 came out of the water sharks took the rest June the 29th 1945") Quint is killed by the shark as it tears the boat apart (at one point it drags the boat with the engines running in the opposite directions Mythbusters proved that couldnt be done in open ocean) Brody who cant swim manages to kill the shark ("Smile you son of a bitch") while Hooper is still down in the shark cage. No words can describe this the greatest movie ever
April Cathleen Cornelius:My all time favorite film series. We all know that a young boy drowned at Camp Crystal lake because "the counselors weren't paying attention they were making love while that young boy drowned" a year later two counselors are murdered. Flash forward to 1980 and the camp is being reopened. All but one are killed. Alice survives by decapitating Mrs. Voorhees the mother of the boy who drowned. Afterwards she takes a canoe out and is viciously pulled under by a hideously derformed boy but is told by police "we didnt find any boy" Two months later she disappears, murdered by Jason. Five years pass and a new camp opens and the killing begins again. The killer escapes to murder young people staying at a lake house. This time he's killed with an axe to the head but awakens in the morgue to kill the attendants and head back to Crystal Lake where he finds kids partying at a vacation home next to the Jarvis family. Trish and Tommy Jarvis survive but Tommy is left traumatized by killing Jason in self defense and placed in a mental institution. Five years later he's released to a halfway house where a psychotic young man has just axed to death another client. The murders begin again except its not Jason this time. Some time after that, Tommy and his friend go to the cemetery where Jason is buried at night in a storm to dig him up and put Tommy's mind to rest. Except that once he's disinterred, Tommy has a flashback and drives a metal pole into Jason's rotting corpse which is then struck by lightning and revived. Jason then goes on a killing spree killing pretty much everyone before he's weighted down and sunk to the bottom of the lake. Tommy's story ends. Now we meet Tina who has telekinetic ability that accidentally killed her father. Tina is under the care of an unscrupulous psychiatrist who is only interested in exploiting her ability. After one of his little tests, she runs out to the lake where her father died and accidentally frees Jason who is in the lake. Meanwhile the house next door is home to a party. The kids invite Tina over but she begins having flashes of them being killed horribly by Jason. Then they actually are killed . She manages to fend him off with her abilities eventually raising her father who pulls Jason down under. Flash to another year. The graduating class at Crystal Lake High is taking a boat trip to Manhattan. The principal doesn't want niece Rennie to go as she had a trauma in the lake as a child when he tossed her in. Electric cables reanimate Jason again and he stows away to kill everyone on the boat and ends up chasing them into Manhattan where he is destroyed by toxic waste. Flash forward again. A woman alone in a cabin draws Jason in but its really a police sting. Jason is destroyed but not really because "through a Voorhees was he born and only through a Voorhees can he be killed" Jason's murderous spirit jumps bodies til he's back in crystal lake where he murders Diana Voorhees his sister and tries to birth a hell baby. Meanwhile Diana's daughter Stephanie and her granddaughter have come back to Crystal after her murder and its Stephanie and her boyfriend who must destroy him. Flash forward to a couple centuries. Jason is being studied when he is reanimated but drags a woman in the cryo lab where he is to be frozen since he cant be killed. About 500 years or more into the future a salvage crew arrives on Earth 1 which due to pollution is uninhabitable. They find Jason and the woman and revive them now Jason is in space but he is destroyed by ejecting him into space where he ends up crashing somewhere where there's a lake. These movies will always have a place in my heart and my collection. Loved them all
April Cathleen Cornelius:On an isolated island, scientists are searching for a cure for Altzheimer's disease. They fall under attack by a trio of intelligent, genetically modified sharks. It was decent though there was a novel called "Hunger" though I do not remember the author's name, about intelligent sharks that was a lot better. A typical example of science screwing up.
April Cathleen Cornelius:Typical-the critics didn't like it but the audience did. A film crew is kidnapped by a hunter who is trying to capture the biggest anaconda ever. The anaconda of course doesn't want to be captured. Followed by three sequels

Dylan Brown:An underappreciated flick from Steve Beck (the director of "13 Ghosts"). The atmosphere of the movie is a little bit creepy and the opening scene of the movie is pretty cool and what makes the film memorable. Overall It's an enjoyable ride, if not taken to seriously and worth a watch. 6.5/10
April Cathleen Cornelius:In 1962 the passangers on the Antonia Grazza are sliced to pieces when an unseen hand presses a lever releasing cables. 40 years later a salvage crew is approached by Jack Ferriman(Desmond Harrington) about recovering a mysterious vessel in international waters.Turns out its the Antonia Grazza. The crew is picked off one by one and we learn Jack Ferriman isnt who he says he is but a salvager of souls a position he earned after a lifetime of sin.The survivors try to sink the ship but there is a ghost child aboard who cant be salvaged; being a child she couldnt have sinned so the ship will remain afloat but theymanage to detonate the explosives blowing it to bits . However as she is loaded into an ambulance the one survivor sees Ferriman loading gold onto the cruise ship. So it never ends. Pretty good Desmond Harrington is perfect as Ferriman and Julianna Margules and Ron Eldard have such good chemisty. Must watch
April Cathleen Cornelius:I like Piranha 3D it was really fun. Check out the opening scene with Richard Dreyfuss. Its really a horror comedy with some major gore
Dylan Brown:Alexandra Aja's (the director of the extreme french film "High Tension") remake of Joe Dante's (director of the classic 80s horror films "The Howling" and "Gremlins") "Piranha" is surprisingly very fun to watch and features some highly gruesome scenes of gore and violence. Check it out if you're looking for some fun :) 8/10
April Cathleen Cornelius:The first and best in the series, Lake Placid kind of mixes genres but in a really good way.A 30 foot maneating Nile crocodile has found its way into Black Lake Maine where Delores Bickerman(Betty White) has been feeding it cows until it eats Mr. Bickerman. Turns out there's two crocs in the lake; one is destroyed by a grenade launcher the other is tranquilized and taken to Portland til something can be done with it. The film ends with Betty White feeding a whole bunch of baby crocs. Really good awesome cast definite must see
April Cathleen Cornelius:Four years after the shark in Jaws is destroyed, divers are attacked while exploring the wreckage of the Orca ((Quint's boat) Several days later waterskiers are attacked-of course Mayor Vaughn calls the incident a boating accident. A half eaten killer whale washes up on shore. Chief Brody is convinced another shark is out there-it is the ocean after all). The diver
April Cathleen Cornelius:Less than stellar remake of the 1980 version with a similar story line but geared towards a teenage audience. I prefer the original myself but its not unwatchable
April Cathleen Cornelius:Hunting for the legendary Blood Orchid which is thought to extend life, a group of scientists are attacked by both the giant anacondas and each other of course . One of the better sequels
April Cathleen Cornelius:I liked "The Fog" and I concur with Dylan Brown about the atmospheric quality and creepy music. An otherworldly glowing fog brings supernatural vengeance to the town of Antonio Bay. Definitely check out "Prince of Darkness" and "The Thing"
Dylan Brown:One of John Caprenter's most underrated and creepiest horror film. "The Fog" has one of the most eeriest atmospheres along with the some of the creepiest music that I've ever seen in a horror film. I highly recommend this to fans of John Carpenter and also recommend that you check out two of his other underrated materpieces "Prince of Darkness" and "In the Mouth of Madness". 8.5/10
April Cathleen Cornelius:Open Water tells the story of a couple left behind on a scuba diving trip in open water. An excellent film but very depressing. Note the characters last names, (Watkins and Kintner) a nod to Jaws.

Dylan Brown:Very cheesy and higly unrealistic flick about a bunch of sharks that get released iin to a lake. Sara Paxton (The Last House on the Left, The Innkeepers) and Joel David Moore (Hatchet) do an alright job with the bad script but other than that the acting is pretty bad. Overall it's a little fun and does have a few entertaining moments but the unrealistic plot and the bad acting just ruins it. 4/10
April Cathleen Cornelius: Sara and her friends spend the weekend at her family's vacation home on a private lake where they find themselves in the middle of a nightmare. The lake is full of sharks and they didnt get there by accident either. This movie is really good. There's a scene where a young woman is fed to Cookie Cutter sharks that stays with you for quite a while. Fun
April Cathleen Cornelius:In the south China Sea there are deep water trenches big enough to hold the Himalayas that have never been explored and that there many disappearances in that area. This we learn from the opening. Finnegan (Treat Williams) and his crew are leading a group of mercenaries through a storm to an undisclosed location which turns out to be Argonautica dead in the water after a collision with a large unseen object.Once aboard the dead ship they find it abandoned. Well not exactly, Everybody aboard has been eaten by creatures now crawling aboard the ship. Now they have to fight the tentacles of these monsters to get off the ship. Definitely a fun movie

Dylan Brown:A very underrated horror flick from Lewis Teague (the guy that directed "Cujo and Cat's Eye). The film is a bit chessy, but it is very well done and my second favourite horror flick from him, behind "Cujo". "Alligator" is a highly entertaining flick that is worth a look if you enjoy 80s horror. 8/10
April Cathleen Cornelius:Based on the urban legend about alligators in the sewer a young girl's pet alligator Ramon is flushed down the toilet by her father.Like the urban legend it doesnt die but grows to enormous proportions due to eating the remains of puppies full of growth hormones dumped by unscrupulous scientists. Watch for the birthday party scene you won't get it out of your head for a long time.
April Cathleen Cornelius:Tobe Hooper directed this direct to video release so I expected better. The characters were so annoying, I was rooting for the crocodile to eat them quickly.

Dylan Brown:A great fun B horror from Joe Dante (the director of "The Howling" and "Gremlins") that It is meant to be like a fun parody of "Jaws". The film is a great example of a horror parody and one of the funnest B movies that pays great homage to the b movies of the 50s and the early 60s. 7.5/10
April Cathleen Cornelius:"People eat fish Grogan fish dont eat people" When genetically altered piranha are accidently released from an army test site, Bradford Dillman and Heather Menzies must race to stop the ravenous killer fish before they reach the suummer camp and resort. I love Roger Corman and this is a personal favorite of mine. Watch this one before you watch the remake
April Cathleen Cornelius:I disagree with Dylan Brown; I enjoyed this movie being that I am a fan of most of the movies called bad. There were some cool moments and lots of nudity and gore.
Dylan Brown:A terrible sequel to Alexandra Aja's "Piraha"! The film feature more nudity and gore, which is a plus but the acting is really cheesy and almost unbearable. Even the acting from David Hasslehoff is pretty bad, though it is good to see that Christopher Llyod and Ving Rhames are back.in action 3.5/10
The Perfect Storm, Jaws, Shark Night and so much more made us think twice before entering open waters... Rank the scariest horror movies that take place of shore!
