Amanda Ventress:Ah House on Haunted hill, now there was a scary one. It was the doctor movements that really scared me. It was also one of the movies till this day I can not watch in the dark while it is raining. This movie just bugs me in a creepy way. I did like the fact that the guy who plays spike from Buffy the vampire slayer was in the first few moments of the movie as the camera guy. The music was beyond creepy and gives me chills, and the idea of being lock in a haunted and crazy place with pissed off ghost just really made me just go holy crap. Now the second one was a complete let down to this movie, I was insulted by it. But this movie, the first is a remake from the old black and white version which is also almost different in its own right. I give this one a two on my marker of best horror films cause it was the only one in a long long long time that scared me.
Amanda Ventress:Pet Sematary, that brings back some nightmares. My mom let me watch this as well at a young age and it just made me fear death. I give this a five on my list because of the fact that the cat church was beyond creepy for me. And then when the little boy came back to life, that too trip me out. One part I can not watch is the death scene of the little boy because I have a little sister at his age and it just makes me think dear god. I like the book better though in so many other ways, but the movie was an ok term in my book. The idea of the sour graves and the over dramatic ghost were just simply wonderful as a child and did scare me. But today, has almost no effect on me, guess I just watch it to much growing up, because of the fact is the little boy coming back to life, being twice as creepy saying, "I want to play with you daddy" just made jump every time. But as I said now a day it doesn't bother me.
Amanda Ventress:Sleepy Hollow being one of my second favorite films of all time in horror thanks to Johnny Depp and Tim Burton. This film was more of a mind screw for me because I watch this at such a young age. It also one of my favorite time horror pieces out there. The clash of revenge mix with an unkillable dead man made me think twice about going into my own woods. The art style of this movie is very old timey goth which as a big surprise to me as a kid turn out to be another reason why I enjoyed this movie so much. I also like the splash of the funny moments in this movie such as when Johnny Depp character first saw the headless horsemen and that head fell between his legs and then he pass out, that was priceless. But I would say the best part of the whole movie was indeed the church part when the horsemen was trying to attack Christina Ricci father character. Just the music alone with the fact he couldn't cross the gate just made it a more epic film. Even today as a young adult that scene still drives me crazy with excitement. I give this movie a better rating then 11, I give it a number 3 spot on horror because of the fact of it is a time piece, very old gothic like, and the fact of good old revenge is in play here.
Amanda Ventress:The Woman in Black has to be my all time favorite horror movie as of right now. It is a classic horror story of revenge, sadness, and of classic scares. I just love the old timey horror pieces. I saw it when it first came out with my best friend and we both really loved it. I mean it was a great rush of enjoyment compare to this pass year of horror let down and remakes. I like the fact of the ending because it was justified to me and well different from all the other endings of horror. This movies deserver a better spot then 21 because it was more then just simple scares, it got you to think and over image what was really going on in this movie.
